Nature, Art, and Your Love — All on Magical Film

There’s a Soul to Film Photography That Can’t Be Faked

Warmth. Nostalgia. Grain.

Your love story deserves more than ordinary. It deserves to be captured on real 35mm and medium format film where every frame holds the magic of the moment, the softness of memory, and the timeless beauty of your connection. Let your elopement be more than a day. Let it become a piece of art you’ll treasure forever.

Shooting on film is a love letter to slowness, to presence, to intention. Each frame requires care - the gentle focus, the weight of light, the pause before the shutter clicks. It's a tactile, almost meditative process that invites me to slow down and truly see - not just through the lens, but with my whole heart.

In this fast-paced digital world, so many couples are yearning for something real. For softness. For depth. For the imperfect perfection of film—the way it captures feeling over polish, emotion over precision.

Film photography allows me to be fully present with the couples I work with. To move through their day not as an observer, but as someone who feels every quiet glance, every windblown kiss, every sacred vow whispered into the wild.

Meet Laszlo aka Weirdie Grizzly – Your Analog Storyteller & Guide

Weirdie Grizzly with a happy bride and groom after their elopement day in the evening

I adore snapping a film selfie with the couple after their magical Scotland elopement!

Weirdie Grizzly is out of this world good. We were stunned by our photos and I still can’t wrap my head around how he was able to do it all with film cameras. It’s wild to think that despite having a finite number of shots and literal fractions of a second to work with, he still managed to capture the emotion, magic, and romance of our elopement with such consistency. Laszlo truly loves his craft and we’re so grateful for all the work he did.

I’m a collector of moments time forgot. While the world rushes after the latest trends, I find wonder in the quiet and the timeless - the hush of childhood summer sunsets, the soft blur of sun-faded photographs. I’m happiest with the little things: the smell of an old book, a postcard with curling edges, sunlight rippling across a sleepy river. To me, life plays out like a vintage photo - grainy, glowing, and endlessly worth watching, again and again.

Film photography will slow you down.

In our fast-living world, the film medium brings back simplicity and slow mindfulness to photography. On digital, I can take hundreds of photos on an elopement day without realising the high amount of exposure - then I have to select the best ones for hours. The film is more expensive these days, and each roll only allows 10-36 photos to take. So I have to use those shots wisely, forcing me to slow down and think more about composition, lighting and the perfect timing to take a photo. Also, I connect better with the couple I photograph; they can enjoy their elopement day slowed down. Film photography taught me to nail the right photo on the first attend, and I rarely delete any film photos.

What Is Film Elopement Photography?

Film elopement photography is a nostalgic, artful way to capture your special day—shot on 35mm and medium format analog film for that timeless, cinematic look. While I still offer digital coverage, I’m shifting my focus entirely to film, as it’s become the heart of both my creative process and personal journey.

For Weirdie Grizzly, Film Photography is Everything.

His dad taught him how to take photos on a film camera back in the 90s. The first camera, an Eastern German Praktika, was his workhorse to practice with. Since then, Weirdie Grizzly used so many fantastic film cameras in different formats (film sizes). After more than 30 years of shooting on film, he was happy to go back to basics and document elopements in Scotland on this fantastic analog medium. Film photography teaches us patience. There's no instant playback, previews, or over editing. Every frame is a deliberate and well-composed masterpiece. The analogue medium's essence, like tones, grains, and imperfect perfection, makes it magical. Shooting film forces us to slow down. Composing the photo with more intention because you have only limited frames per film roll. After finishing a roll of film, the wait—sometimes days or weeks—to see what you've created is full with excitement.
